Wayne-Sanderson Farms Tyler team raises nearly $120,000 for 2024 Smith County United Way campaign

Tyler, TX. (September 2024) – With historical contributions exceeding $1 million, Wayne-Sanderson Farms Tyler continued its long-time support of Smith County United Way in 2024, raising more than $118,000  through direct contributions and company matching funds. As a United Way Community Pillar sponsor and strong supporter of community causes, the company has participated in local United Way fundraising efforts since opening six years ago, with strong team member participation culminating in the seven-figure total legacy contribution. The Wayne-Sanderson Tyler complex comprises a processing facility, feed mill and hatchery, employing approximately 1,750 team members and partnering with more than 70 local family farms.

“The annual United Way campaign really supports our community so when the Tyler facility opened we immediately got involved, and it’s only grown from there,” said Maria Reyes, who champions the company’s fundraising efforts as part of her duties as Tyler Complex Human Resources assistant manager. “We start planning months out working directly with our partners at United Way. They come and talk with our team members to kick off the campaign with give-aways, T-shirts and prize drawings, so people get excited and make sure new people know how to participate.”

Smith County United Way representatives were quick to champion the Wayne-Sanderson Farms team effort. “Thanks to the support and generosity of Wayne-Sanderson Farms and it’s employees,  we can provide the services we do for the people that really need them,” explained Leo Rossler, local United Way development officer and former board member. “United Way helps fund 27 different local community organizations, like Red Cross, Literacy Council, Meals on Wheels and others. At some point we provide help to one out of four Smith County residents, and we couldn’t do it without the support of Wayne-Sanderson Farms.”
