Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance and Food Safety

Juan DeVillena

Dr. Juan DeVillena serves as Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ Senior Vice President of Quality Assurance and Food Safety, ensuring compliance with all government, industry and customer quality and food safety standards. His quality assurance and food safety oversight encompasses the company’s vertically-integrated operations, from live operations through final production.

Joining Wayne-Sanderson Farms in 2004, Juan has served in several positions with increasing levels of responsibility, including Quality Assurance Supervisor, Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Director of Quality Assurance and Food Safety, and Vice President for Quality Assurance and Food Safety for the company’s fresh and prepared foods business units. His prior work experience includes research with the U.S. FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and the University of Maryland’s Nutrition and Food Science Department, in tandem with related industry experience in operations, quality assurance and food safety.

Juan earned a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and a professional degree in food engineering from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in Peru. Juan also earned a Master of Science in Food Science from the University of Maryland and a doctorate in animal science from Texas Tech University.
