2022 Season's Greetings
Dear Valued Partner,
Season’s greetings to all who help Wayne-Sanderson Farms provide amazing poultry products, services and support to the markets we serve and in the communities where we operate. As the holidays approach, we’d like to take the opportunity to join you in thankful reflection to consider the many blessings we’ve experienced during this last year.
As a company, we took a bold step into a shared future in 2022. A joint-venture partnership between our parent company, Continental Grain, and industry leader, Cargill, merged two top performing poultry companies to become Wayne-Sanderson Farms.
As a newly formed company, we are fortunate to have already experienced positive results as we integrate to become an even stronger company comprised of 23 poultry complexes across the southeastern United States. Investing in new ways to better serve our customers and improve our performance remain top priorities. Expanding capacity with a new wing line for prepared foods brings another forty million pounds to the marketplace. Automation upgrades have helped increase efficiency and address labor. Regional economic impact through facility expansions and upgrades totaled half a billion dollars, and farm investments topped $60 million, adding hundreds of jobs across our operating region in 2022.
We are also fortunate to have the opportunity to invest in the future of our industry and our communities by donating $2.1 million to support two of the nation’s leading poultry science programs at the University of Georgia and Mississippi State University. We contributed over $1.4 million to local causes and organizations important to our employees and communities and donated more than 481,000 pounds of products to support local causes, food banks, shelters and special community events. We continued title sponsorship of the Sanderson Farms Championship, raising more than $1.8 million to support Children’s of Mississippi and more than 60 additional state charities.
There were trials and tests, but we faced them together with an amazing workforce and continuous improvement mindset. We’re adapting and learning, entering new markets and helping our customers discover new ways to serve their marketplace. The momentum we’re experiencing is just the beginning.
As we enter the holiday season, we’re grateful for our association and partnership, and we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We know you share our prayers for good health and blessings for all as we look ahead to 2023.
